Benedikte Kyvik made her stage debut as a sixteen year old. Good stage- and audience experiences and good reviews in the local press was part of giving a fresh start for the very talented singer, who opened up a room of sounds and emotions on stage.


Benedikte has from the very start developed her own musical expression, and gives every song her own signature. The combination of the genres jazz and folk is a big passion. Traditional songs in jazz, folksongs, religious folksongs and lullabies are all part of her repertoire on stage, as well as meditative improvisations/meditative prayers, which she does a cappella, called Silence Sings (more info further down in this bio).


The melodic line is a red thread in everything she does, which also includes own written material. Audiences in different settings have very well received her song "Heaven (A Prayer)", a song she calls "a lullaby for grown-ups".


With her long stage- and studio experience, she has cooperated with several excellent and experienced musicians.


She finds great inspiration in the arts, movies, nature, symbolism, rituals and most of all people and her love for life.


For her debut album, released in 2015, Benedikte Kyvik wrote most of the original lyrics. The album is produced by the French producer Stéphane Detréz. He is also the composer of all the beautiful songs on the album. The French artist and lyrisist Stéphane Cadé wrote one lyrics for the album.


Benedikte also writes poetry and prose, and writing is a big part of her life puls in her everyday life.


At the end of 2016 Benedikte started her work with "The Forgotten Children In Christian Environments", giving interviews and speeches. This work fast gained recognition in national newspapers in Norway.


Benedikte is currently creating and developing new projects, going back to her roots and her deep love for calm, slow motion songs and her meditative improvisations and prayers. One of her Her productions as mentioned above is called "Silence Sings" and has been performed among other places in Frogner church´s chapell in Oslo and in Oslo Prison for women.
